Prerequisite Courses (7-8 Hours)

• MATH 122 - Calculus for Business Administration and Social Sciences Credits: 3 or MATH 142 - Calculus II  

Required Courses (at least 15 Hours)

• ASTR 201 - Introduction to Astronomy II: The Dark Universe  
• ASTR electives: At least 9 hours in advanced ASTR courses numbered 300 or higher

Non-ASTR electives: With approval from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, up to 4 hours in courses from the following set:

• CHEM 118 - Computational Chemistry I  or higher
• CSCE 145 - Algorithmic Design I  or higher
• EMCH 201 - Introduction to Applied Numerical Methods  or higher
• GEOL 201 - Observing the Earth  or higher
• MATH 174 - Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science  or higher
• PHYS 211 - Essentials of Physics I  or higher
• STAT 201 - Elementary Statistics  or higher

Advance consultation with the Physics & Astronomy Department is recommended to ensure that course credits will be acceptable for the astronomy minor. Note that some courses in the ASTR and non-ASTR electives list may have additional prerequisites.
